Rick Schmidt Architect has designed a series of on-going renovation and modernization projects for The Copley Group. To minimize the time that apartment is unoccupied, these projects require careful coordination and clear communication between the Client, Architect and Builder .
The program for this 1st floor studio apartment called for a gut renovation of the existing kitchen and bathroom. Through careful planning, selective demolition and thoughtful design, long abandoned utility space was reclaimed. This resulted in more functional, spacious and beautiful layouts for the kitchen and bathroom. A new high-efficiency, mini-split heating and cooling system was installed along with new dimmable, recessed LED downlights.
Where possible, the existing architectural details were preserved and restored to bring this classic Back Bay studio back to its former glory.
