Private Residence, Newport RI

The project involved a total rehab of this 1932 classic bungalow. The porch was transformed into an inviting entrance. The exterior siding was replaced with new stained cedar shingles. New "cottage" style double-hung windows were installed. The interior was redesigned to reflect a coastal aesthetic. The open plan concept provides bright, flexible living space in a compact 1,450 sf envelope. A new stair to the attic was added to create an additional bedroom, bath room and study. The house was renovated under the RI Energy Star program, receiving the highest-rating - 5 stars PLUS, by using high-performance insulation, a mini-split heating and cooling system and a heat-pump hot water heater.
